Boels Pit Stop

We are looking for a new Health & Safety Advisor with a passion for solutions and collaboration and a desire to take the next step in their H&S career. This role is field based and will involve regular travelling to our Boels Rental depots in England, Scotland and Wales, supporting management in translating the corporate H&S policy into a structured and systematic approach. How does a typical week look?

On Monday morning, you drive to a depot that needs a safety inspection/audit to be done. You check and complete any risk assessments and speak with the whole team about any non-compliance issues that have been identified. You offer recommendations and training to enable the changes to be made. As our Health & Safety Advisor, your engaging and influencing training captivates the employees so that they understand why they need to make changes and adhere to H&S regulations. You will keep monitoring the depot to ensure that the changes are implemented and that standards are constantly maintained. After all, Boels is renowned for its reputation for safety!

Later in the week, you could be back at the office in Stockport, updating the senior management team about the progress of the H&S strategy, procedures and plans. Naturally, you will have your monthly and yearly reports to hand, so that you can give them accurate information about RIDDOR reportable accidents (including the follow up medical assessments), near misses and your remedial actions, periodic assessments and prevention plans. Health & Safety is in your blood, so articulately presenting this information to the team and answering their questions should come as second nature to you!

Finally, when we need to open a new depot, you will liaise on behalf of Boels, with the relevant governmental departments and request any required environmental permits. Managing risk and ensuring that the correct H&S is in place will always be at the forefront of your mind. This is because our ultimate goal is zero occupational accidents. Experience of providing H&S guidance and advice over multiple sites’ Experience of designing and giving engaging H&S training to staff’: It's you, so you fit into our orange team! To become the best at Boels as our Health & Safety Advisor in Stockport, you have to:

  • Have a minimum level of either AIOSH or Tech IOSH level membership
  • Be NEBOSH trained/qualified to a minimum of either Certificate or Diploma level
  • Have a valid passport and a full UK Driving Licence
  • Be experienced in writing and developing safe systems of work, completing risk assessments, audits and accident investigations, and writing the associated reports.
  • Demonstrate your knowledge and experience of implementing H&S policies and procedures and the promoting of a positive H&S culture.
